IND vs ENG: Indian Test team's vice-captain Rishabh Pant was looking in sublime form and was at his absolute best in a practice session at the Kent County Ground. India will lock horns with England for a five-Test match series, which will be held later this month.
In the practice session, Pant was seen showing his brilliant batting prowess as he smashed huge sixes, which not only went beyond the boundary ropes, but also smacked the rooftops, balconies, and front yards of the government buildings.
During an interaction with a reporter, a resident revealed, “This is the kind of tale you usually hear in Indian mohallas, kids breaking windows with tennis ball sixes. The only difference is, this time it’s not kids. It’s Rishabh Pant.”

During one incident, a ball hung at the balcony shade. Owing to the local rules, the Indian support staff can't just enter the premises to take the balls just like that. They need to get special permission and an official was seen getting access to take the ball back.
Pant, who recently was appointed as team India's vice-captain in the longest format along with Gill, who became the new Test captain. The five-match Test series against England will witness a new generation taking over the reigns as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and R Ashwin announce their retirement from the longest formats.
Talking about Pant's appointment as vice-captain, chief selector Ajit Agarkar revealed, “Pant is one of our best batters in Test cricket over the last four to five years. A wicketkeeper can see the game well and that's why he is Shubman's deputy.”
Pant had a forgetful outing with the bat during the recently concluded IPL 2025, where he led LSG from the front and they finished in the seventh position in the points table.
Talking about his time at LSG, Pant recently opened up and said, “Eventually, you have to play 40 overs of good cricket, 20 overs will not save you in a T20 game, and that's been our story.”
“There were a lot of injury concerns before the tournament, you can see that that is something that hurt us going through the season,” he concluded.
