IND vs ENG: Shreyas Iyer, known for his attacking style of play, is set to bring his aggressive approach to the upcoming five-match Test series against England. After a challenging campaign against South Africa where he managed only 41 runs in four innings, Iyer does not look too bothered by the situation.
Reflecting on his comeback performance in the Ranji Trophy match, Iyer expressed satisfaction, emphasising that his mindset remains focused on attacking cricket.
"I'm going to play attacking irrespective of the situation," EspnCricinfo quoted Iyer as saying.
“I knew that leaving the ball would, to be honest, bore me. I would rather go and play some strokes. That's what I considered at that point of time,” Iyer said after playing a knock of 48 runs against Andhra Pradesh.

As India braces for the Test series against England, Iyer's attacking style could prove crucial, especially against spinners if matches are played on turning tracks. Despite the Mumbai encounter not featuring a turning track, Iyer viewed the opportunity as valuable match fitness preparation, considering his extended absence due to a recurring back injury.
"I'm assuming that we would be getting turning wickets against England. But other than that, it was just for my match fitness, to stay on the field as long as possible," Iyer said after the match.
Iyer was not included in the ongoing home series against Afghanistan. Unfazed by being left out of the national team, Iyer remains focused on upcoming challenges.
"It's important to take one match at a time, not think about five-match Test series. The team is only for the first two games. The motto would be to perform in the first two games and then look forward to the rest of the games," Iyer said.
With the middle-order competition heating up in the test match, with players like Rajat Patidar and Abhimanyu Easwaran doing good in the domestic as well as India A team particularly, Iyer welcomed the competition.
It's fun. I love competition, and when competition is there, you face more challenges. And that's what I thrive on personally. So I enjoy having competition around because then you can go at each other and also against the opponents to show your talent and skills," Iyer said.
Having played 12 Tests since his debut in November 2021, Iyer has scored 707 runs in 20 innings with an average of 39.27. Iyer became the first Indian player to score a century and a fifty in his debut test.
