Andrew Balbirnie's 72-run knock wasn't enough for Ireland as they fell 33-run short in the end to give India another victory in Dublin on Sunday.
The Men in Blue restricted the hosts to 152/8 in their 20 overs to take a 2-0 lead and seal the three-match series with the final match remaining as a formality.
Skipper Jasprit Bumrah managed to contribute with the ball as he took two wickets for just 15 runs in his quota. He provided effective support to Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi who took as many wickets for the visitors.
Mark Adair smashed three stunning sixes for his 23 runs towards the end to make things a bit exciting but was just a consolation contribution from him.
Earlier, India posted a promising total of 185/5 in their 20 overs on the back of Ruturaj Gaikwad's 58 and Sanju Samson's 40 runs.
Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh stitched a 55-run stand for the fifth wicket and helped the team to reach a huge total. Rinku smashed three sixes and two boundaries for his cameo and was adjudged as Player of the Match.
"I am feeling very good. I was trying to do what I have done in the IPL. I was very confident and tried to stay calm. I listen to the captain (smiles). I am feeling very nice. I have been playing for 10 years. All my efforts have born fruition. I am happy to get the Man of the Match award in my first game," he said at the post-match presentation.
The visitors will be aiming for a whitewash when they take the field in the final game of the series, having already won the first match by two runs via the DLS method at the same venue.
Bumrah-led side is expected to make a few new introductions in the playing eleven as that game remains a testing opportunity for them.
The third and final match of the series will take place in Dublin on Wednesday, August 23 where Ireland will be aiming for a consolation to take something out of the series.
