Virat Kohli bounced back to form on the third day of the first Test on Friday. He brought up his 31st half-century in the longest format and also achieved the feat of scoring 9000 runs and also joined an elite group, which has players like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Sunil Gavaskar. He achieved this milestone in 197 innings and also became the slowest batter from the Fab Four to do so. It was also the first time he scored a half-century in the longest format this year and thus proved his naysayers wrong.

The fans at the venue witnessed the old Kohli back. He came into bat at No.3 position after opener Yashasvi Jaiswal got out and was seen struggling while batting against Ajaz Patel. He took 14 balls to open his account but then he went all guns-blazing. He along with Sarfaraz Khan steadied the ship for India. Although Sarfaraz batted aggressively. Kohli played his trademark shots. The fans got entertained with every shot he played and thus put out a masterclass performance.
After the pitch became, batting frewidnly, Sarfaraz and Kohli, who were dismissed for ducks during the first innings, took advantage of the situation. They were at their absolute best and scored runs quickly. Kohli played at this position for eight years. Will O'Rourke bowled a brilliant delivery as the field was also perfectly set. The ball had hit his chest and he could only get a glove. The ball then went toward Glenn Phillips, who took a stunning catch.
He didn't have a great record in this position before this Test as he had played in just six matches and scored 97 runs at a poor average of 16.16.
