Varun Chakravarthy finally struck gold, claiming the wicket of Will Young after multiple close calls in the same over. It was third time lucky for the bowler, as Young was trapped plumb in front, resulting in a straightforward LBW decision.

New Zealand finally broke through for their first boundary of the match, courtesy of a well-played square drive by Will Young in Mohammed Shami's over.

"We've been here enough, batted first and bowled first, don't really mind batting second. It hasn't changed much, we've chased and won as well. It does give you a lot of confidence, and takes the toss away from the game. At the end of the day, what matters is how well you want to play. That's what we've spoken about in the dressing room, not to worry about the toss and to just play well, that's what we've done and we have to do today as well. New Zealand have been a very good team over the past so many years, they tend to play good cricket in ICC tournaments. The challenge for us is to play well against them now. Same team for us."

“If the pitch plays a similar way, it’s going to be a challenge along with all three of their other spinners. We have looked at a little bit more footage (of Varun). I think we obviously know what his threats are now. That 115K arm ball, that got me (in the last match) and that was a bit of a threat, but yeah, we know he’s going to be a challenge," Mitchell Santner said in a pre-match press conference.

New Zealand national cricket team have arrived at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium for Sunday's showdown against India.

“This is the best batting line-up that I have been a part of. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli I think are the all-time one-day greats in the world. Rohit bhai, one of the best openers in white-ball cricket and Virat bhai, I don’t think I need to say anything about him. He is one of the best ODI batters ever. I’m batting in between the two, and then below we have Shreyas [Iyer] who is in such good form, then KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja," Gill said in a pre-match press conference.

India and Australia are currently only two teams to win the Champions Trophy twice. However, if India secures a victory over New Zealand, they will etch their name in history as the first and only team to have won the prestigious tournament three times.

The 2000 Champions Trophy final saw New Zealand claim their maiden ICC title, defeating a Sourav Ganguly-led Indian team. Now, 25 years later, India is eager to reverse that outcome and secure their third Champions Trophy title.

Virat Kohli currently occupies the third spot in the list of batsmen with the most ODI runs, having accumulated an impressive 14,180 runs. He is now tantalizingly close to surpassing Kumar Sangakkara, requiring just 55 more runs to leapfrog the Sri Lankan legend for the second spot. 

India and New Zealand have faced off in two previous finals - the 2000 Champions Trophy and the 2021 World Test Championship final. On both occasions, New Zealand emerged victorious.

In the 62 matches played at Dubai International Stadium, the toss hasn't been a decisive factor. Surprisingly, teams that won the toss have only managed to win 29 of those games.

India have been on a dominant run in the ongoing Champions Trophy, with convincing victories over Bangladesh, Pakistan and New Zealand. In the semi-finals, Men in Blue comfortably defeated Australia by four wickets. However, playing in the final of an ICC event presents a unique set of challenges.
