With just 7 runs required in the chase, India have almost won it but the question remains! Will Virat Kohli reach another century? He is also 7 runs away.

KL Rahul and Virat Kohli have somewhat steadied the chase amid some tight bowling by New Zealand spinners.

After a faulty start, the duo of Ravindra-Mitchell stitched an excellent partnership of 149 runs to give a good platform for NZ to score big. But India bowlers came back strong in the contest, restricting NZ to a par total.

Finally one sticks! Shubman Gill takes a clean catch in the long region of Rachin Ravindra who was looking dangerous. Ravindra goes for well-struck 75, Shami gets his second.

Mohammed Siraj showcased his tactical acumen with a well-thought-out approach. His strategy began with a well-directed bouncer, aimed at unsettling Rachin Ravindra. The plan was executed to perfection, followed by a precision yorker that had the potential to dismiss Ravindra. However, the New Zealand batter's smart decision to review the umpire's call saved him from an early exit. New Zealand remain focused on building a substantial total from here.

Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell have both reached their half-centuries, steadying New Zealand's innings after the early setbacks. The Kiwis lost two wickets early, but this partnership has helped them recover. Mohammed Siraj is now in his second spell and is bowling the third over of it.

This is excellent batting from Daryl Mitchell. He is taking on Kuldeep Yadav and hitting him down the ground. Rachin Ravindra is following the same route.

Good first two overs from India. A maiden to start by Bumrah followed by another good one from Siraj who gave away just four runs. Five came off the first two as Conwy and Young started the proceedings. 

"We'd have bowled first as well. Looks a good surface, and we know the dew will come in. The important thing is whatever we do, we need to do well. We need to keep the momentum going. India have made two changes in the Playing XI. Mohammed Shami and Suryakumar Yadav have replaced Hardik Pandya (injured) and Shardul Thakur.

India have won the toss and have elected to bowl first against New Zealand in the match 21 of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.

"Least grass I've seen in Dharamsala, it will be on the slower side. What one must worry about is the dew, and how much dew comes on. It is a lot cooler here, so that will be a factor taken into account as well. This pitch will be on the slower side, but still a good wicket to bat on. Despite there being dew, teams though shouldn't be afraid to bat first."

Virat Kohli needs one century to match Sachin Tendulkar's record of 49 ODI centuries. He has 48 tons to his name as of now.

Shubman Gill needs 14 runs to become the fastest batter to reach 2,000 ODI runs. He is set to surpass Hashim Amla who achieved the feat in 40 innings. Gill has 1,986 runs from 37 innings.

Mohammed Shami needs one wicket to go past Anil Kumble’s record of 31 scalps in ODI World Cups.

Rohit Sharma needs 93 runs to reach 18,000 international runs.

Along with skipper Rohit Sharma, star batter Virat Kohli will be the key for the Men in Blue against New Zealand. Kohli will be heading into the match high on confidence, having scored a remarkable hundred in the last match against Bangladesh.

He played a match-winning knock of 103 runs, scoring his 48th century to continue his spectacular form going forward in the tournament.

"I think dew is a massive factor here in Dharamshala. I think we turned up at 5 o'clock last night, and there was some dew starting to form. So yeah, for us, trying to work out what the best way is, for us moving forward into the game, whether it be a bat or ball first. So, we'll come up with that decision tomorrow - today and tomorrow. But yeah, I guess, yeah, obviously understanding that it's going to play a factor at some point and try to deal with it as best we can." ,

"I think when I talk about tactical New Zealand comes to my mind. I feel they are tactically very strong they bat according to the plans that have been given to them. When you play against them you know some sort of planning has been done against each individual. They have beaten us in the ICC tournaments regularly so for us it is important that we try to understand the situation first what we need to do as individuals and try to play the game."

"They are a very professional side and a very structured side, they have a very structured way of playing their cricket. But within that structure, they have been very consistent and that has been the reason for their success. Credit to the side for the way that they are playing. Any team that plays against them has to find a way to break their rhythm and play to the best of their abilities which will eventually decide whether you can cope up with their consistency or not because they are not a team that makes many mistakes. That's been their strength and at the international level if you don't make many mistakes then you have a good chance of winning the game more often." 

India will be without the service of the star all-rounder Hardik Pandya which is a massive blow to them. Pandya suffered an ankle injury while bowling during the match against Bangladesh. He was taken off the field and didn't take any further part in the match.

Pandya was assessed at the nearest hospital in Pune before he returned and was seen in the dressing room.

He has been taken to the NCA in Bengaluru for further treatment and was ruled out of the New Zealand match. However, it was reported that he will be joining the team in Lucknow and could be available for te match against England.   

New Zealand are placed first in the points table with four wins in four matches with a net run rate of +1.923.

India are placed second in the points table with four wins in four matches with a net run rate of +1.659.

Both teams have had a great tournament so far with boxes ticked in very department. India and New Zealand are the only teams so far in the tournament to remain unbeaten with four wins our of four matches.

India defeated Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh while New Zealand outplayed England, Netherlands, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

While the last match at the HPCA Stadium witnessed rain interruptions the India vs New Zealand match is also expected to face such problems amid concerning weather conditions around some parts of Dharamsala.

Coach Rahul Dravid hinted at including Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami in the all-important match against New Zealand after the team's combination was hampered due to an unfortunate injury to star allrounder Hardik Pandya.

"I think there are different combinations we could come up with. Obviously, the three seamers, having someone like Shami sitting out there and bringing him in this game is a great option," Dravid had said in the pre-match press conference.

India and New Zealand are the only two teams to remain undefeated in the tournament, having won four out of their respective four matches to keep their dominance at the top of the points table. Both teams have eight points under their belt and will most likely be making it to the final four. However, they will be battling against each other on Sunday to keep their respective winning run alive. A win for India will take them to the top spot from the second place while New Zealand will have their dominace extended if they manage a win at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.
