India vs New Zealand 1st Test: Star batter Rachin Ravindra, Will Young and pacer William ORourke spoiled India's high-flying unit's performance with powerpack impeccable masterclasses to hand New Zealand a dominating Test victory against India after 36 years in India at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.

New Zealand win a Test in India for the first time in nearly 36 years, becoming only the third team to beat India in India in the past decade.

New Zealand outplayed India in all departments to register a dominating victory against hosts by 8-wicket in the first Test of the three-match series, taking 1-0 lead.  Following Jasprit Bumrah's explosive start, India's momentum faltered as New Zealand seized control, ultimately claiming the series lead.

India, famous for their unyielding home record, suffered a surprising setback as New Zealand declared dominance from the beginning, dictating the tempo throughout. The hosts' unfortunate first-innings collapse, which yielded a meagre 46 runs, proved an impossible hurdle, rendering their subsequent recovery efforts futile.

Meanwhile, New Zealand's triumph marked a historic feat, representing only their third Test victory on Indian soil in nearly seven decades. Notably, their previous success in India dated back to 1988, when the legendary Sir Richard Hadlee stole the show with a spectacular 10-wicket haul at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, guiding his team to a memorable win.

The start of play was delayed due to rain at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium, adding to the tension.

Resuming the fourth innings on Day 5, Jasprit Bumrah struck gold with the first delivery, giving some hopes of a miraculous win over Blackcaps as India's pace spearhead struck early on the final day, dismissing New Zealand captain Tom Latham leg-before-wicket for a duck. Latham's departure dealt a significant blow to the Kiwis' hopes of chasing down the tricky target of 107 in the fourth innings.

Bumrah struck again, claiming his second vital wicket, as Devon Conway fell victim to his mastery. Bumrah's clever move around the wicket paid off, landing a perfectly paced delivery on middle stump. The ball angled in enticingly before holding its line, dipping slightly to catch Conway off guard. Attempting to play a shot, Conway was squared up, and the ball thundered into his back pad, sealing his fate.

Just when it seemed that India were making a comeback in the game the flawless strokeplay by Will Young and Rachin Ravindra dashed India's hopes of victory.

The young New Zealand brigade kept slamming boundaries in every over to keep the visitors' scoreboard ticking. With three runs needed to win, Young guided his team home with a stunning four.
