IND vs NZ, 1st Test: India's star batter Sarfaraz Khan jumped and shouted at Rishabh Pant to help him avoid a huge runout on the fourth day of the series opener against New Zealand in Bengaluru. There was a mix-up between the two batters which led to Pant almost getting run out but due to smart thinking from Sarfaraz and with luck also working in their favor, helped the team survive a costly dismissal.

The incident occurred during the 65th over, where the Men in Blue had scored 270/3 and were lagging by 86 runs. Sarfaraz Khan helped the team bounce back, with a brilliant knock and smacked Matt Henry for a boundary as the ball went towards deep backward point. What earlier looked like a normal single soon became a confusion amongst the two batters.

Pant, who had scored an unbeaten knock of 11 runs, was seen getting nervous while taking the first run and wasn't sure of taking the second run as well. At the same time, Sarfaraz ran towards the non-striker's end and realized that they couldn't take the next single. Sarfaraz was then seen jumping and shouting at Pant and asked him to just stay there.

Although Sarfaraz did try to stop him, Pant kept on watching the ball and reached halfway at the pitch. Tom Blundell, who is New Zealand's wicket-keeper caught the ball and was about to attempt a run-out. But in a surprising turn of events, Blundell mistimed the throw as he bent forward to take the ball for an underarm flick at the stumps, he struggled and threw the ball wide and thus Pant safely came back to the crease.

The Indian fans breathed a sigh of relief as the already struggling Pant survived a nervy runout. Due to his frantic efforts, Sarfaraz was nicknamed, "Jumping Sarfaraz" on social media as he played a huge role in avoiding a game-changing moment.

Sarfaraz then went on to score a brilliant maiden Test century. He scored 100 runs off 110 balls by smashing 13 fours and three sixes. Although, he was dismissed for a duck during the first innings, but became the 22nd Indian batter to have scored a duck and a hundred in the same Test match.
