Virat Kohli added another feather to his highly decorated cap as he became the third Indian batter to amass 600 runs in a single edition of the World Cup.

Kohli achieved the feat in the ongoing first semifinal against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He joined the likes of legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar and skipper Rohit Sharma to score 600 runs in a single edition of the marquee edition.

Sachin Tendulkar scripted history in the 2003 edition of the World Cup when he smashed 673 runs to become the highest run-getter ever. In 2019, Rohit (648 runs) became the second Indian batter to join the veteran batter's milestone.

Before the match, Kohli was five runs away from the 600-run mark in this edition of the mega event. Currently, he is the highest run-getter in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli surpassed Australian legend Ricky Ponting to become the third-highest run-getter in ODI cricket. Kohli went past Ponting's 13,704 runs in his 291st ODI and 279th innings.

In the list of most runs in ODIs, Kohli is only behind former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara (14,234 runs) and Sachin Tendulkar (18,426 runs).

Kohli is also eyeing 50th ODI ton in the match to overtake Tendulkar's 49 ODI centuries record.
