India will head into this match after a splendid 6-wicket triumph over Bangladesh. Pakistan, in contrast, faces the disheartening prospect of bouncing back from a disastrous 60-lose to New Zealand on the very first day of this tournament which happened at the National Stadium, Karachi, on February 19.
Pakistan is devoid of star opener Fakhar Zaman for today's all-important game versus India. He was ruled out of the tournament due to the injury he sustained on Thursday. Imam-ul-Haq has taken his place. A left-handed opening batter.
India and Pakistan have a long history of competing against each other in the Champions Trophy, having met five times earlier.
Pakistan's head-to-head record stands a little better, with three of those wins, including the most recent match held in 2017. The encounter was particularly relished in history, with the win by Pakistan, led by Sarfarz Ahmed, giving them their first trophy ever.
