Intermittent rain disrupted the much-anticipated Asia Cup clash between India and Pakistan, leading to the activation of the reserve day on Sunday. When the rain hit the Premadasa Stadium, India was at 147 for two in 24.1 overs. Play is scheduled to resume at 3 pm local time on Monday.
The use of the reserve day means that India will face Sri Lanka in their next Super Four encounter just under 24 hours after the completion of the Pakistan game.
Prior to the weather interruption, Virat Kohli and K L Rahul were at the crease, with scores of 8 and 17, respectively, after openers Rohit Sharma (56) and Shubman Gill (58) had produced solid half-centuries.

Rain has been a consistent issue in the Sri Lanka leg of the Asia Cup, with expectations of more rain throughout the tournament. The Asian Cricket Council's decision to allocate a reserve day only for Sunday's match and the final generated controversy, given the unpredictable weather conditions.
Rules For Reserve Day:
The use of a reserve day in cricket is designed as a continuation of the original match and not a complete restart. Therefore, the scores and the state of play from the original match day are carried over to the reserve day. If no play is possible on the originally scheduled match day due to weather or other factors, then the full One Day International (ODI) will commence on the reserve day, ensuring that the match can be completed under more favorable conditions. This approach helps maintain the integrity of the match and ensures that both teams have a fair opportunity to compete.
