India skipper Rohit Sharma bagged the best 'Fielder of the Match' for his on-field tactical awareness against the World Cup 2023 clash against South Africa at Eden Gardens on Sunday. Men in Blue continued their unbeaten run in the showpiece event with an eighth consecutive win as they crushed Proteas by 243 runs in the table-toppers clash.

India fielding coach T Dilip continued the momentum and announced the winner in the most creative manner after delivering a motivated speech in the dressing room.

In the video posted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Dilip asked players to come down for the announcement of the winners as Buggy Cam selected the winner in a crazy style.

After skipper Rohit was declared the winner of the medal, Shreyas Iyer presented the medal to the opener with loud cheers from the rest of the players. Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill tightly hugged Rohit to celebrate his achievement.

"This is something we started in this tournament and Dilip sir has mentioned many a time this medal is not just mere catching and getting a couple of runouts. But it is more than that," Rohit said in his acceptance speech.

Fielding coach Dilip revealed what made Rohit win the medal and said, "Idea of getting this is to make sure that every 15 people deserve to claim this. And one thing, it is not just catch just one hard work. It's what impact you make on the time and I think Ro (Rohit) has made it in this match, which is tactical awareness and also he has been outstanding keeping his body on the line. He deserves it."
