JE Sports Desk:  Ravichandran Ashwin ripped through the West Indies batting apart, taking 7/71 as India clinched a convincing win by an innings and 141 runs in the 1st Test in Dominica.

It was all Ashwin's show on Day 3 as the veteran finished with remarkable figures of 12/131 runs in the match to continue his brilliance with the red ball in hand.

Rohit Sharma-led Indian team has taken a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series as the visitors put up a show to thrash the Windies in their own backyard.

It was coming for the hosts once they were bundled out for just 150 runs after winning the toss on the very first day of the game. Rohit Sharma and debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal successfully capitalised on the advantage to give India a great start with the bat.

The duo smashed the respective centuries with the latter thrashing multiple records with a marathon innings on debut.

Rohit departed for 103 runs while Jaiswal was dismissed for 171 runs with Virat Kohli playing a gritty knock of 76 runs as well before India declared their first innings for 421/5 on Day 3.

Ashwin who took a five-for in the first innings did nothing different to make it tough for the hosts as he paired with Ravindra Jadeja to give a legendary bowling performance.

Jadeja provided promising support as he picked up five wickets in the match as Kraigg Brathwaite-led side was bowled out for just 130 runs to give India a famous victory.

Yashasvi Jaiswal for his exceptional performance with the bat on debut was adjudged as the Player of the Match.

"The preparation was pretty good. We were having a nice session. Spoke a lot to Rahul Dravid sir. Would like to thank all the selectors and Rohit (Sharma) bhai for having faith in me. It's really nice, I have been working on this. I've been focusing on preparing well and having discipline. Playing Test cricket for India is very special and emotional for me. This is just the start, I need to keep my focus and keep working on my cricket. A lot of people helped me through my journey and I want to thank each and every one of them. It was tremendous batting with the senior players. I look forward to learning more from them," Jaiswal said in the post-match presentation.
