The rain played its part on the final day of the second Test between India and West Indies at the Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain in Trinidad on Monday as the match ended in a draw, giving the Rohit Sharma-led side a 1-0 series win.
No play was possible on the final day as it was called off without a ball being bowled.
The hosts were set to resume their innings from 76/2 with Tagnarine Chanderpaul (24) and Jermaine Blackwood (20) at the crease as the weather snatched the slightest chance to turn the game in their favor.
India, on the other hand, needed eight more wickets to complete a whitewash with a win in the historic 100th Test between both teams after Ravichandran Ashwin managed to pick two wickets amidst all the resistance from Windies batters.
Earlier on day 4, Mohammed Siraj put up a show as he picked up his second five-wicket haul in Tests and finished with the figures of 5/60, his best so far in the longest format, and was also adjudged as the Player of the Match.
"This is my first Player of the Match award in Tests, very pleased. There wasn't much help for the Pacers. I kept my plans simple and executed. When you pick wickets in conditions like this, you get loads of confidence. Rohit bhai asked me to believe in myself, not take any pressure and enjoy, Siraj said at the post-match presentation.
India after being put into bat first posted a mammoth total of 438 runs on the back of Virat Kohli's 29th Test century as he played a marathon innings of 121 runs in his 500th international match.
The debutant Mukesh Kumar was on the list of wicket-takers as Rohit's side bowled the hosts out for just 255, taking a heavy first-inning lead going forward in the game.
The Indian skipper along with Yashasvi Jaiswal (38) and Ishan Kishan (52*) managed to set a massive target of 365 runs for West Indies, declaring their 2nd innings on 181/2 before Ashwin struck twice late in the day.
