West Indies captain Rovman Powell was satisfied enough after his team took a 1-0 lead in the five-match T20I series but admitted that the outcome of the five-match series will depend on the performance of West Indies batters against the spinners.
India suffered a four-run defeat in the first game of the series, also their 200th T20I match as the milestone was overshadowed by the brilliance of the hosts on the Trinidad soil.

Powell was sharp to observe that the pitch tends to slow down as the game progresses. In this context, the partnership between Nicholas Pooran and Kyle Mayers became crucial, as they attacked the Indian spinners.
"It's a very good feeling. We talked about starting the series on a positive note, and we did that today... After watching the Indians bowl, I was thinking if we were a spinner short. But the fast bowlers bowled into the wicket," Rovman Powell said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
Powell appreciated the contribution of senior all-rounder Jason Holder and highlighted the importance of his bowling in tough situations. He also revealed that their game plan included a tactic to take the pace off the ball that well and truly gave them an advantage.
"It was difficult to bat, it was always going to be a good powerplay and a slowdown in the middle. This series will be decided on how the West Indian batters play spin in the middle overs... it makes the left-hand batters very important. All the overs that Holder bowled were fantastic. At the interval, he told us to [take] pace off," Powell added.
The hosts after suffering defeats in the Test and ODI series were expected to put their best foot forward in the format they are most suited to.
They will be aiming for the same effective performance in order to get positive results in the T20I series and get something promising out of it when. The second T20I will take place at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on August 6, Sunday.
