IND-A vs ENG-L 1st Unofficial Test 2025: India A skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran had a forgetful outing with the bat on the first day of the 1st Unofficial Test match, whereas Yashasvi Jaiswal remained confident but was eventually dismissed while batting aggressively against England Lions. By the time of Lunch, the Men in Blue had posted a respectable target of 86/2, where Sarfaraz Khan and Karun Nair had scored unbeaten knocks of 17 and 26 runs.

England Lions had won the toss and chose to bowl first on a sunny morning in Canterbury. Captain Easwaran and the youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal opened the innings and tried to get the much-needed game time ahead of the five-match Test series against England.

Easwaran, who is one of India's star players in domestic tournaments and on the back of a lot of experience in the red-ball format, failed to score big. He did look confident but took his own time to score runs and was seen leaving balls that went towards uncertain areas and thus got out after scoring just eight runs off 17 balls.

He also played some brilliant shots as he hit two fours in Josh Hull's over. At the same time, Jaiswal played aggressively but also maintained his composure.

He then changed his playing style according to the pitch conditions and smashed three fours and one six. Despite him scoring runs consistently, he got out after playing aggressively.

The youngster then began playing like he used to in other formats and mistimed a shot in Eddie Jack's over England Lions skipper James Rew took a catch and he thus got out after scoring just 24 runs.

Nair, who had been in sublime form and helped Vidharbha win the Ranji Trophy title, was able to continue his brilliant form. He batted in a controlled manner most of the time and played brilliant cover drives.

At the same time, Sarfaraz Khan began his innings by playing a brilliant off-drive but the English fast bowlers did give him a hard time during the morning session. As Nair smashed shots towards the slips and scored runs consistently and then played a brilliant cover drive and smashed a four on an overpitched ball.

Sarfaraz tried different shots to score runs. He eventually was able to play against the English pacers and smashed a four with the help of the opening face of his bat.
