IND-A vs ENG-L 2nd Unofficial Test 2025: India A's star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal wasn't pleased with the way he was dismissed after scoring a low score in the second unofficial Test match against England Lions in Northampton. He had scored 17 runs off 25 balls in which he had smashed two fours and that's when Chris Woakes bowled an inswinger, which hit him on the pads. The on-field umpire gave the decision of out but that left the youngster stunned.

The incident occurred during the second over of the first innings when England Lions skipper James Rew had won the toss and chose to bowl first. Jaiswal, who had mistimed the fuller delivery, reckoned that the ball did a lot. The on-field umpire didn't share the same views and thus gave the decision of out and left Jaiswal surprised. The youngster didn't walk back to the pavilion and then gestured toward the umpire. After a few seconds, Jaiswal then walked back to the dressing room.

Jaiswal had scored 24 and 64 runs during the first unofficial Test match in Canterbury last week. He would be opening the innings along with KL Rahul during the series opener in Leeds as it was quite clear since they opened the innings on Day 1 of the second unofficial Test match. KL Rahul gave the first unofficial Test match a miss but he then took permission from the BCCI to participate in the second unofficial Test and flew to England and smashed three fours and is looking in sublime form.

After the second unofficial Test match, there would be an only instar-squad match, where the India A players will lock horns with the senior team in order to prepare for the first Test match against England. The upcoming five-match Test series against England would be quite challenging for both Rahul and Jaiswalas as the team would be relying on them a lot ever since Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from this format.

Hopes pinned on Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul

Jaiswal was one of India's successful batters in the Bordr-Gavaskar Trophy. He was one of the three batters to have smashed a hundred in Down Under apart from Virat Kohli and Nitish Kumar Reddy and he had scored 391 runs in that series and his highest individual score was 161 runs during the series opener in Perth. At the same time, Rahul is quite aware of the conditions in England. It would be the third time that he would be playing there, as he had earlier featured in the 2018 and 2021 series. He had scored 299 runs during the 2018 series and his highest individual score was 149 runs after three years he improved his record by scoring 315 runs after playing in four Test matches and that also includes scoring a hundred at the Lord's Cricket Ground.

Just like his fellow teammates, KL Rahul too had a forgetful outing in Australia, where he scored 276 runs during the five-match Test series against Australia. But he was looking in good touch as compared to the other Indian batters as he had smashed two fifties in that series. Now, again being an opener all eyes will be on him to help India perform brilliantly against an inexperienced England bowling attack.
