IND vs AUS 2nd Test: India's star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Steve Smith once again during the second Test match on Saturday. After Nathan McSweeney was dismissed, Steve Smith was the new batter who joined Marnus Labuschagne at the crease to help the hosts bounce back.

But Australia's star batter had a forgetful day once again with the bat as Bumrah got him out after scoring just two runs during the 41st over. This was the third time that Bumrah dismissed Smith and gave the visitors the much-needed breakthrough.

Jasprit Bumrah vs Steve Smith: What do the stats say?

Balls Runs Dismissals Average

Known for his brilliant bowling prowess, Bumrah has continuously given Steve Smith a hard time in all formats. It should be noted here that the fast bowler has dominated the legendary Australian batter in the longest format.

Bumrah has dismissed Smith two of the three times in the ongoing five-match Test series. Smith has batted at an average of 52 against Bumrah in Test cricket before this series.

The left-side strap: Bumrah's effective strategy to dismiss Smith

Steve Smith loves to move across the stumps and take advantage of his run-scoring abilities at the on-side. But Bumrah completely changed these trends, especially in the last few years.

The Indian fast bowler dismantled Smith's leg stump when he first took his wicket in the longest format during the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He also got Smith out ahead of the stump by bowling a nip-backer in the series opener and thus got him out once again in Adelaide.

At the same time, Smith has brilliantly faced Bumrah's fourth stump-line balls but his dip in form has become quite problematic for him as his success rate has been reduced against stump-line bowling.

Conclusion

Now that Bumrah has dismissed Smith thrice, it can be said that he has an upper edge against Smith in the longest format. Earlier, Smith used to have a better record against Bumrah but now that he is in the last stage of his international career and Bumrah on the other hand is at the peak of his career, there is very little chance that Smith might bounce back to form in the rest of the ongoing series.
