India vs Australia 3rd ODI: Virat Kohli produced a special effort once again against Australia in Sydney after disappointing outings in the first two ODI matches in the ongoing three-match series. He smashed an impressive fifty to entertain the huge crowd at the iconic SCG on Saturday.

Virat came out to bat after an early dismissal of skipper Shubman Gill in the challenging run chase and was hungry as ever to pick up the momentum. He came up with a fist-pump celebration after his first run, having scored ducks in the first two matches. The senior batter stitched a remarkable partnership with Rohit Sharma. While Virat completed his 75th fifty in the ODI format, the partnership between the veteran stars for the second wicket went past the 100-run mark.

Most 100+ partnerships in ODIs

26 Tendulkar – Ganguly (176 innings)

20 Dilshan – Sangakkara (108)

19 Rohit – Kohli (101) *

18 Rohit – Shikhar (117)

Rohit, on the other hand, continued his promising run with the bat and hit his second successive fifty in the ongoing series. Notably, the duo stepped up for probably their respective last ODI career innings on Australian soil.

This was the first 100-run partnership between Virat and Rohit in 5 years and 9 months. The ongoing series has been a crucial one for both the batters, considering their future in the ODI format after retiring from the other two formats. While India continue to finalise their core setup for the ODI World Cup 2027, Virat and Rohit's availability is yet to be confirmed for the marquee tournament.

Earlier, Australia were bowled out for 236 runs in 46.4 overs after opting to bat first. Matt Renshaw was their top run-getter with a 56-run knock on the back of two boundaries, whereas skipper Mitchell Marsh came up with the contribution of 41 runs.

For India, Harshit Rana was the pick of the bowlers as he took four wickets for 39 runs in his 8.4 overs.
