IND vs AUS 5th Test: India's stand-in skipper Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir shared the feelings of all the Indian fans as they were seen sharing a heartwarming hug after Australia thrashed India during the fifth and the last Test match at the SCG. Although the Men in Blue thrived during the first half of the last year, the transition period has been quite challenging and it did cost them a lot.

A video went viral in which Gautam Gambhir was seen hugging Virat Kohli as the Pat Cummins-led side lifted the elusive Border-Gavaskar Trophy title after almost a decade. Kohli, became the stand-in skipper after Jasprit Bumrah left the field halfway during the second day, and planned to turn the tide in the visitors' favor.

India out of WTC final race

The Men in Blue's hopes of qualifying for the third consecutive WTC final ended after Australia had beaten them by six wickets during the fifth and the last Test match. Although, they did have a strong campaign as they had won nine of the 19 matches that they had played till now their 114 points and 60 percent win rate couldn't help them qualify for the summit clash.

South Africa are currently the table toppers as they have a 66.67 percent win rate, whereas the Pat Cummins-led side with 130 points, became the second finalists. The visitor's inconsistent performances, especially in crucial matches, played a huge role in their elimination. They must be disappointed but their WTC journey did provide glimpses of potential as they now aim to bounce back in the next cycle.
