India vs Australia 3rd ODI: India will be up against Australia in the third and final ODI match at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday, October 25. Australia have already taken a 2-0 unassailable lead in the three-match series and will be aiming to produce another impressive effort to complete a 3-0 whitewash.
India will be heading into the match on the back of a 2-wicket defeat in Adelaide. They will be aiming to come up with an improved effort and finish the series on a high in order to gain some confidence ahead of the five-match T20I series.
Interestingly, India’s recent record in bilateral ODIs, particularly over the past five years, remains a major concern. This is India's 13th bilateral ODI series away from home since February 2020. Out of which, they have lost 7, including the ongoing one in Australia. Speaking of series whitewashes, India have suffered just two, one against New Zealand in 2020 and the other against South Africa in 2021-22.
If India lose the third ODI on Saturday at the SCG, it will be their third series whitewash away from home in the last 5 years. Meanwhile, it will be India’s first-ever whitewash against Australia in ODIs.

India have had a horrible record in Sydney in ODIs over the years. Both teams have locked horns 19 times in the 50-over format at the venue, with Australia winning 16 games while India emerged victorious only twice. Only one game, in 2015, yielded no result.
All eyes will be on Virat Kohli once again as the veteran batter will be heading into the match on the back of back-to-back ducks in Perth and Adelaide. Amid heavy speculations regarding his ODI future, both Virat and the Men in Blue will be looking to make it count in the final game with a consolation win.
