Karun Nair's luck finally runs out. Gus Atkinson extracted some extra bounce from the surface as Jamie Smith took a good catch diving to his left. India now lead by 206.

A hundred off the highest order for Yashasvi Jaiswal. Incredible to say the least for the 23-year-old. One of the best hundred for the young man. This is a tough pitch to bat on but he has been simply magnificent.

Shubman Gill gets a peach first up from Gus Atkinson as he has been adjudged LBW. India rocked early in the session. He falls for 11(9). Karun Nair is the new batter in. IND 189/4 (44.2)

India lose just a single wicket in the session and that too of nightwatchman Akash Deep, who scored his highest test score of his career. India reach 189/3 (44). The lead is now 166. 

India lose their 3rd wicket as Akash Deep's vigil comes to an end. A bumper from Jamie Overton as Akash Deep failed to control his bat. Nevertheless, he has done more than what was required from him. IND 177/3 (42.3)

England have been shocked by the resilience of Akash Deep. This is his maiden fifty as Yashasvi Jaiswal has trusted him completely in this innings. IND lead by 132. 

It has gotten a bit more overcast as the lights have been lit in the stadium. The partnership is swelling as it is creating more and more problems for the visitors. 

As Akash Deep, Jaiswal continue to remain unbeaten, England bowlers are getting a bit frustrated. Specially with the presence of Akash Deep, who is scoring at a brisk rate. IND 125/2 (30.4)

Tongue keeps it tight, concedes only one run in this over. Jaiswal manages to open up in the fourth delivery and taps him to backward point for a single.

Stuart Broad is clear in his mind. Yashasvi Jaiswal holds the key to this Indian innings and backs him to play like Virender Sehwag and David Warner in their prime. Broad feels that if Jaiswal gets moving, he can quickly score 100, 120 and even more, putting more pressure on England. Remember, he already has a century and a breezy knock of 87 in the first two Tests. Another hundred to cap off the series would certainly do India a world of good.

What a fine sight this is. After two days of rain interruptions and overcast conditions, the sun is out in all its glory today in London. If Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Karun Nair and the rest can’t make it count today, when will they? India has got to remember that today could well define whether they go back empty-handed or after being declared the joint-winners of the first-ever Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. If they can bat anything like they did on the 4th and 5th days of the Manchester Test, it's surely 2-2. And there's no iota of doubt about it.

Akash Deep’s send-off to Ben Duckett has not gone down well with quite a few former cricketers. Ajay Jadeja was shocked to see this side of the Indian pacer, while Ricky Ponting's reaction was well… synonymous with Punter in his prime. When asked whether he would have given Akash Deep a quick right-arm jab had the Indian quick done that to him, Ponting did not hold back, saying he probably would have. KL Rahul has been outfoxed by Josh Tongue. One of the rare mistakes by the batter, who has been class apart. He ends his batting campaign with 7(27). India lose an important wicket before the end of the day. IND 46/1 (9.5)

Two boundaries in the over as India reduce the deficit completely to earn a lead by 3. Yashasvi Jaiswal has looked solid so far despite a rash shot against Atkinson. KL Rahul needs to calm him down.

England lose their ninth wicket in the form of Harry Brook. No Chris Woakes in this innings which means England have been bowled out for 247 in 51.2 overs. Siraj picks up a four-wicket haul. England lead by 23 runs.

Lunch has been taken at the Oval on the second day and England have taken the upper hand on the back of an incredible batting display as they reach 109/1 in 16 overs in their first innings with Zak Crawley (52) and skipper Ollie Pope (12) at the crease. 129 runs were scored in the first session at the loss of five wickets. India's only success came when Akash Deep removed Duckett for 43.

A spell of stellar fast bowling from the likes of Josh Tongue and Gus Atkinson force an early all-out on India as they finish on 224. Notably, the innings begin on 204/6 as Indian lower-middle order and tail could only manage 20 runs since the start of the day.

Two wickets in two overs. Washington Sundar gets trapped in a short ball and pulls it straight to Jamie Overton. India is in big trouble with two overnight batters returning to the pavilion early on Day 2.

Josh Tongue with the first wicket of the night as he got rid of Karun Nair quite early. The middle-order batter failed to convert the start into a big score and was dismissed for 57. He was plumb in front of the wicket but opted for DRS and ended up wasting it. IND 218/7 in 66.5 overs

Karun Nair’s gritty fifty on Day 1 was a crucial knock in steadying India’s innings, but the job is far from done. As he resumes on Day 2 unbeaten on 52, the focus must now shift to converting it into a big hundred — something India desperately need after a wobbly top order. With overcast conditions likely and England’s bowlers probing, Nair’s ability to carry on will be vital in pushing India towards a competitive total.

Usually one would ask Karun and Washington  to simply see out the first hour before looking to capitalise. However with 16 overs to go the second new ball, the first hour will end with another threat looming. India have been patient with their batting throughout this series, but in need of runs today with their last partnership, what will the plan be?

A scary moment for England late in the day yesterday as their veteran seamer Chris Woakes hurt himself fielding and now is expected to miss the remainder of the match due to that injury. 

England will certainly miss his bowling, with all the responsibility now on the shoulders of Atkinson and Tongue as well as Overton, but will also miss the added steel that his batting provides. 

Karun Nair and Washington Sundar's partnership of 51 runs steadied India's ship after England's pace bowling attack stunned the visitors with early blows. India reach 204/6 at Stumps, with Nair (52) and Sundar (19) standing unbeaten at the crease.

Woakes goes off the field, using his sweater as a makeshift sling for the injured hand. Woakes looks to have seriously hurt his left shoulder and dives to save a run for his side, which ended with him landing awkwardly. 

Gus Atkinson strikes again! Dhruv Jurel falls to a brilliant catch by Harry Brook at second slip off a delivery that bit back in. India are now in trouble at six down. IND 153/6 in 49.3 ov.

Josh Tongue troubles Ravindra Jadeja again, inducing an outside edge that's neatly grabbed by Jamie Smith behind the stumps. IND 123/5 in 39.3 ov.

Sai Sudharsan edges to Jamie Smith off a wobbly seam delivery that nips in late, caught behind off Josh Tongue's delivery. IND 101/4 in 35.4 ov.

Sai Sudharsan's elegant cut for four has brought some cheer, while Karun Nair continues to work hard, scoring his first three runs off 21 deliveries.

There has been a lot of rain in just some time. The start of play is delayed in the second session and the first inspection by the umpires will be done at 6:30 PM IST.

Heavy rain arrived out of nowhere and it has forced an early lunch here at The Oval. India did a descent job to reach 72/2 in the first 23 overs that too while batting in the bowling friendly conditions. Jaiswal and Rahul departed early.

The ball nipped back a bit and Rahul had to play it despite the ball being very close to him and there was no room to open the arms. The star batter dragged it back onto the stumps in the end. Joining Shubman Gill in the middle today will be Ollie Pope and Gill will be hoping for a change in fortune- he has lost each of his first four tosses to start off as captain, a statistical improbability. Better luck with someone else flipping the coin today. 

This series has succeeded in being largely free of weather interruptions, outside of brief delays and interruptions here and there. It won't be a tropical storm in London by any means this week, but there is still some rain in the air- 40-45% chance expected throughout the afternnon.
