IND vs ENG 1st Test: India's star wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant is currently seen in action during the first Test against England in Headingley. On Day 1 of the first Test match, Pant came into bat at No.5 position and scored an unbeaten knock of 65 runs off 102 balls. In his gritty innings, he had smashed six fours and two sixes.

When Pant had smashed his first six during the first innings, he broke Rohit Sharma's record of smashing 56 sixes for the Men in Blue during the WTC cycle. Rohit, who announced his retirement from the longest format last month, had featured in 40 WTC matches and had hit 56 sixes and Pant had smashed 58 sixes under his kitty after playing in 35 matches.

England Test skipper Ben Stokes had smashed more sixes than Pant during the WTC cycle. Stokes, who is currently leading England from the front during the series opener against India in Leeds has smashed 83 sixes after playing in 54 WTC matches.

As far as the list of batters, who have smashed most sixes in WTC is concerned, apart from Stokes, Pant, and Rohit, the other batters are Yashasvi Jaiswal and Daryl Mitchell. Jaiswal, who had scored a brilliant knock of 101 runs off 159 balls on Day 1, had hot 40 sixes till now after playing in 20 WTC matches and Mitchell had hit 34 sixes after playing in 24 matches.

The overall sixes that Pant had smashed is 75 after playing in 44 Test matches and is just behind former players like Virender Sehwag (90), Rohit (88), and MS Dhoni (78) in the list of Indian batters who have smashed the most sixes in the longest format.

Pant, who had also achieved the milestone of scoring 3000 runs in the longest format, will aim to convert his good start into a big total and if he goes on to score a hundred, then he will surpass MS Dhoni's record of scoring most hundred as a wicket-keeper batter in the longest format. After playing in 90 Test matches for India, Dhoni had smashed six hundreds whereas Pant has smashed as many tons after playing in 44 Test matches.
