IND vs ENG 1st Test: The players of Indian and England cricket teams were seen wearing black armbands on the third day of the series opener in Leeds. As per BCCI, the players did so to pay their respects to ex-England fast bowler David Lawrence, who died on Sunday.
“Both teams are wearing black armbands to pay their respects to former England Cricketer, David ‘Syd’ Lawrence, who has sadly passed away. There was a moment’s applause before the start of play on Day 3," the BCCI had written on its official X account.
Lawrence had represented England in five Tests and just 1 ODI, in his four-year-long international career had scored 60 runs in the longest format, and had taken 18 wickets.

He had featured in 185 First Class matches and 113 List A matches and had taken 515 and 155 wickets respectively.
All eyes on Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah was the pick among the Indian bowlers on Day 2. He had taken three wickets and also became Asia's most successful Test bowler in SENA nations. He will aim to repeat his heroics on the third day as well and give a hard time to the English batters. The hosts were 209/3 at stumps on Day 2 and were trailing by 262 runs.
Ollie Pope scored a brilliant hundred and stitched a partnership of 122 runs for the second wicket with Ben Duckett. Bumrah dismissed Duckett and then Joe Root for the 10th time in this format. Root had scored 28 runs off 58 balls, in which he had smashed two fours.
