IND vs ENG 2nd Test: Jeetan Patel, who is England's spin bowling coach has provided huge uptades on fast bowlers Jofra Archer and Gus Atkinson's availability for the rest of the Test series against India. Both these fast bowlers were part of the team for the second Test against India, which is being held at Edgbaston but weren't included in the playing XI. Patel reckoned that Archer and Atkinson have been declared 'fully fit' and might be included for the next Test match, which would be held next week at Lord's.

During the post-match press conference, Patel revealed that Archer and Atkinson would be selected for the next few matches of the series.

“We’ve got some guys coming back into the squad. Namely, Joff bowled rockets at lunch today again, and Gus may be back at full fitness, and then you can start to rotate," Patel told reporters during the post-match press conference.

Archer had played in the red-ball format after almost four years this week when he represented Sussex during the four-day game against Durham at Chester-Le-Street. He did show signs of his older form as he scored a gritty knock of 31 runs and registered figures of 1/32 after bowling in 18 overs and the match ended in a tie.

Archer, who made a comeback to the national side before the 2023 ODI World Cup, has represented England in lots of ODIs and T20Is but doesn't have too much Test experience.

Patel also talked about Brydon Carse's performances during the first innings, who took just one wicket after bowling in 24 overs and gave away 83 runs, and bowled three maiden overs.

“Carse had two hard test matches, and fortunately, we’ve had a good break between the first and second Test, but it’s the beauty of having a battery of seamers," he concluded.

The Shubman Gill-led side had posted a mammoth first innings target of 587 runs on the back of Shubman Gill's brilliant double ton. While chasing Akash Deep Mohammed Siraj dismantled the hosts' batting lineup. They dismissed batters like Ben Duckett (0), Ollie Pope (0), and Zak Crawley (19) within minutes.

England's star Test batters Joe Root and Harry Brook helped the team bounce back by stitching a 52-run partnership and helped them score 77/3 towards the fag end of the day.
