IND vs SA 2nd Test: The Men in Blue have achieved a new low on day 2 of the ongoing Test match against South Africa. The visitors had won the series opener by 30 runs, had scored 428/7 in five sessions in Guwahati on Sunday.

The Men in Blue, who are playing without the services of the injured captain Shubman Gill, dominated on day 1 as they took six wickets and gave away 246 runs. But South Africa's Senuran Muthusamy, Marco Jansen, and Kyle Verryne took the game away from the host.

Muthusamy and Verreyne had stitched a partnership of 88 runs, where the former had scored 42 and the latter scored 45 runs. Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Verryne and ended the second-longest partnership for the seventh wicket.

And then in the second session, Muthusamy and Jansen built a partnership of 94 runs off 99 balls, where Muthusamy had scored 40 runs and brought up his first ton, whereas the latter scored 51 off 57 balls. As per Cricbuzz, it's the first time that two batters who batted at No.7 or below from South Africa had scored 50 runs in a Test innings.

The Indian bowlers have been struggling to dismiss tailenders for the last years, but it wasn't that bad.

How South Africa controlled the second session on Day 2

Muthusamy batted patiently to bring up his first ton along with Jansen's aggressive batting as the visitors were 428/7 till lunch on day 2. Post Muthusamy and Kyle Verryne's partnership, Jansen batted brilliantly against spinners as he had hit 4 sixes against Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja.

Jasprit Bumrah was the pick among the Indian bowlers as he was able to stop the run-flow, whereas the other bowlers were seen struggling. Muthuswamy brought up his ton post-smashing a six and a 4 in Kuldeep and scored two in Siraj's over. He also survived a DRS in Jadeja's over.

The surface also dried on the second day and became batter-friendly, which is why the spinners were ineffective.
