IND vs SA 2nd Test: Gautam Gambhir will stay as India's head coach in all formats even though they lost the two-match Test series to South Africa, as per an ANI report. The host had lost their second home Test series in two years as the Proteas had defeated them in Guwahati earlier this week.

The host's long domination of home conditions had been dealt a huge blow after they lost two Test series. It was their second Test series loss in 16 months ever since Gambhir became the head coach, as they had earlier lost to New Zealand by 3-0 in November last year. After losing the Test series against South Africa, the Indian Test team is in a terrible position in the WTC points table.

But even after losing this Test series, Gautam Gambhir will stay as the head coach of this team in all three formats.

“He will remain head coach in all three formats; no decision is being considered,” a BCCI source told ANI.

The fans aren't pleased with Gambhir for the way this team has performed under his guidance, as they were also seen yelling 'Gautam Gambhir hay hay' at the stadium in Guwahati after India lost the match by 408 runs in South Africa, which was also their biggest loss as far as runs scored are concerned.

The host have suffered their third home Test series loss. The first loss came in 2000, when the same opponent had become the first team to have beaten India at their home by 2-0. And then the Tom Latham-led side had become the second team to do so last year, where they defeated India by 3-0.

Gambhir has been at the receiving end for including all-rounders instead of specialist players. At the same time, veteran players like Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Cheteshwar Pujara retiring from this team have had a huge impact on this team.

Post losing this Test series, India is currently lying at the fifth position in the WTC points table as they have won just four of nine matches, and have a points percentage of 48.15. This team won't be playing in the longest format for a long time now and will face Sri Lanka next year. Since they will be playing nine more matches in the ongoing cycle, four of them will be played in overseas conditions, and they will face a daunting task in order to qualify for the summit clash.
