IND vs SA 2nd Test: The Proteas received a huge blow before the second Test against India as star pacer Kagiso Rabada has been ruled out yet again. Rabada, who gave the series opener a miss owing to a rib injury, failed to recover well on time and won't be playing the second match from Saturday.

Discussing the same just a day before the match, skipper Temba Bavuma revealed that the medical staff didn't want to risk his fitness, as he had not fully recovered. Kagiso has been ruled out of the second Test,” he told reporters in the pre-match conference, and said that since he is still an important part of the team, he needed more time to recover. His absence will force them to make major changes, as they have won the series opener by 30 runs.

He also talked about the pitch in Guwahati, where the second match will be held. He said that the pitch was quite similar to those conditions in the subcontinent, which is a batter's friend, and then it will assist the spinners.

“This wicket looks a lot fresher and will be more consistent in terms of variability compared to Kolkata,” he said.

“We will have another look in the morning and decide on Kagiso’s replacement.” His assessment suggests a surface that may offer true bounce and steady pace initially, but is expected to assist slow bowlers as the match progresses,” he added.

He also highlighted that the pitch looked exactly like a sub-continental track: “The first two days should be good for batting, after which the spinners will come into play.” This suggests that South Africa may consider strengthening their spin resources or opting for a bowling attack that can adapt quickly as conditions change.

Since Guwahati will be hosting a Test match for the time being, both teams will be playing on an unfamiliar surface. The unusual nature of the Barsapara pitch will add another element to this game.

As both teams gear up for the upcoming match, all eyes will be on South Africa's selection and how both teams adapt to these conditions.
