IND vs UAE Asia Cup 2025: India skipper Suryakumar Yadav was heard as saying 'don't look' to Muhammad Waseem after he had thrown the coin before their tournament opener against the United Arab Emirates in Dubai on Wednesday. Suryakumar Yadav had won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Post winning the toss, Surya reckoned that it was a fresh surface and, since it was humid as well, said that dew might play a role in the second innings.
“We’ll bowl first. Looks like a nice fresh wicket. Humid today, and it might be dewy later. If we get an opportunity, we’re flexible to do anything, but today we want to bowl. We came here early, had 3-4 good practice sessions, and also a day off," he said.
UAE captain Muhammad Waseem admitted that they too wanted to bowl first.
“We were also looking to bowl. Pitch is fresh, and maybe the ball will do something early. We had a good series, took many positive points, and we’re confident from that series. We’re going with a good combination with spinners and fast bowlers, and juniors and seniors," Waseem added.
Who Is In the India XI?
Shubman Gill has returned to this format and will be opening the innings along with Abhishek Sharma.
As per the playing XI, India skipper Suryakumar Yadav would be batting at the No.3 position, whereas Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson would bat at the No.4 and No.5 positions.
Jasprit Bumrah is the only specialist fast bowler, as Hardik Pandya is the other fast bowling option.
Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy are the other two spinners in the playing XI.
