IND vs WI: After being asked as to who the toughest bowler he has played against is, Yashasvi Jaiswal didn't hesitate, as for him, this question doesn't really apply. The youngster, who is known for aggressive batting and his ability to stay calm, talked about his different mindset when he is facing the best bowlers.
Instead of paying attention to the name of the bowler, he tries to stay focused at that moment.
“I don’t feel like there are any (tough bowlers). I don’t think about it at all. I only focus on facing the next ball coming towards me," Jaiswal was quoted as saying on Raj Shamani's podcast.
“I never give any thought to who’s the toughest bowler. The only thing I think about is how I’m going to play the ball approaching me. I don’t even entertain the thought of who is bowling it," he added.
Next Ball Mentality
His philosophy is to just pay attention to the next ball, and that has been the highlight of his cricketing career. This is what has helped him to become one of India's upcoming stars.
He might not get affected by names like Pat Cummins and Shaheen Afridi, but he still respects this sport, as is seen by the way he prepares in each match.
Focus Over Fear
This is the mindset that shows his rise in international cricket. He has built an image of himself performing well calmly at the crease, and that has helped him perform brilliantly in the longest format.
He did play a huge role in helping the team level the five-match series against England by 2-2, where he had smashed two tons, and that also includes a match-winning innings in the last Test match at the Oval.
After being dropped from India's Champions Trophy team, Jaiswal will again be seen in action in the three-match ODI series against Australia. He made his debut in this format against England, where he scored 15 runs.
