Indian will play 16 international matches, comprising five Tests, three ODIs and eight T20Is against Australia, Afghanistan and England in their home fixtures for the season 2023-24, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Tuesday.

Rohit Sharma-led side will start their home summer against Australia with three ODIs from September 22 to 27 in Mohali, Indore and Rajkot respectively before taking part in the showpiece event from October 5 to November 19.

Following the 50-over World Cup, India will play a five-match T20I series against Australia, beginning on November 23 in Vizag and concluding on December 3 in Hyderabad.

The start of the new year will see Afghanistan arriving in India for their maiden white-ball bilateral tour. The three-match T20I series will take place in Mohali and Indore, with the final to be held in Bengaluru, the venue where Afghanistan played their first-ever Test match.

Test cricket will then take over as India will host England for a five-match Test series starting on January 25, 2024. The exciting Test series will be played at Hyderabad, Vizag, Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamsala.

"BCCI’s Tours, Fixtures and Technical Committee comprising Amitabh Vijayvargiya, Jayendra Sahgal and Hari Narayan Pujari confirmed the venues allocated as per the BCCI venue rotation policy," the BCCI said in a statement.

As per the itinerary, venues that missed the World Cup matches have been given priority in the home season as earlier promised by the BCCI. India will host the World Cup 2023 across 10 venues.

Men in Blue are currently in West Indies for the all-format tour. India won the two-match Test series 1-0 and will now play three ODIs and as many T20Is in the Caribbean.

In August, India will travel to Ireland to play three T20Is from 18 to 23. After that India will travel to Sri Lanka to feature in the six-team Asia Cup 2023 from September 2 to 17.
