The Indian team will be creating history when they face West Indies in the first T20I at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad on August 3, Thursday as both teams eye a promising start to the five-match series.

The Indian cricket team will become the second country after their arch-rivals Pakistan to play the 200th T20I. Pakistan reached this historic milestone last year during a series against England.

In the list, India and Pakistan are followed by New Zealand (193), Sri Lanka and West Indies (179 each), Australia (174), England (173), South Africa (168), and Bangladesh and Ireland (152 each).

Having already won the Test and ODI series comfortably, India will be aiming for a repeat of a similar performance in the T20I series as well to make the historic game even more special for Hardik Pandya-led side.

Notably, India played their first-ever T20I game back in 2006 against South Africa under the captaincy of former batter Virender Sehwag where they managed to pick a six-wicket victory in the thrilling game that witnessed a result on the second last ball of the match.

A format that wasn't expected to get much boost in the Indian cricket circuit initially went on to get the majority of the publicity from India post their title win in the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 and the commencement of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008.

India have managed to win 127 out of 199 T20I matches so far and have suffered defeat in 63 games.

Will Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma get opportunities in the T20I series?

With the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja not in the team, Hardik Pandya's side could hand over the debut cap to either Tilak Varma or Yashasvi Jaiswal who are on their maiden T20I series with the Men in Blue.
