India are out of the Asia Cup final now after Pakistan defeated Afghanistan in their Super 4 game and set up the summit clash against Sri Lanka. In a dead rubber, India will face Afghanistan in their last Super 4 encounter at Dubai International Stadium later in the day. Ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia, India will be looking to sort their team issues and playing XI.
It will be interesting to see which team combination will India play against Afghanistan after being heavily criticised for not playing with five frontline bowlers. India haven't played with three proper seamers in any match of the competition so far. Avesh Khan is doubtful to play against Afghanistan as he is yet to fully recover from the illness he was diagnosed with last week. In absence of Avesh, Deepak Chahar is likely to replace him in the squad but his participation in playing XI is still in limbo as skipper Rohit Sharma said that he wanted to try three seamers (including Hardik Pandya) before the T20 World Cup.
India kept on experimenting in the Asia Cup eyeing this year's shortest format World Cup. From their first match, Rohit Sharma made it clear that India would continue experimenting in the tournament which they did so far. Not all experiments worked for them but India got the clear mind of what they are capable of.
The return of Virat Kohli's form is biggest plus point for India while middle-order collapse is something which they would avoid from now. Lack of consitency from Bhuvneshwar is another concern for India against Afghanistan.
On the other hand, Afghanistan might have lost the match against Pakistan but their brand of cricket earned them respect and applause from all walks of life. They would look to continue their same performance against India in their last match of the competition.
