IND vs AUS 3rd T20I: Washington Sundar's explosive 49 spearheaded India's thrilling five-wicket win over Australia in the third T20I of the five-match series at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Sunday, levelling the series 1-1.

India etched its name in the record books as it chased down a massive target to register the highest successful T20I run chase at Hobart, eclipsing Ireland's 177-run chase against Scotland in the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Chasing a rigid 187-run target, Washington struck an unbeaten 49 off 23 deliveries as India won with nine balls to spare.

India were off to a solid start but kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

However, Tilak Varma (29 off 26 balls), Washington and Jitesh Sharma (22 runs off 13 balls) played convenient knocks to take the visitors to triumph.

Earlier, half-centuries from Tim David (74 off 38 balls) and Marcus Stoinis (64 runs off 39 balls) gave Australia a fighting total.

Australia posted a competitive 186/6 despite India left-arm pacer Arshdeep (3/35) and mystery spinner Chakravarthy (2/33) taking three and two wickets respectively.
