The tour match between the India and Australia Prime Ministers XI has begun on a soggy note with rain washing away the first day of play on November 30. Weather predictions for the second day, December 1, do not appear to be much brighter.

The tour match that India will play over the next two days forms part of the preparations for the pink-ball Test against Australia starting on December 6 at Adelaide. The team is riding high with confidence after that unforgettable 295-run victory in Perth.

After a very poor beginning, with the Indian first innings bubbling to the tune of about 150 runs, the Indian side made a sensational comeback after Jasprit Bumrah's special effort of 5-30 with the ball skittling out Australia for a lowly 104, bringing them back into the game.

The Indian side thereafter went on to take advantage of that form, where Yashasvi Jaiswal played a spectacular innings of 161 runs while Virat Kohli remained unbeaten at 100. Together, they set a solid target of 534 runs for Australia, which ultimately took the game away completely from them and brought India its most famous victory.

India vs Australia PM XI: Will rain play spoilsport on Day 2?

The rain that forced the abandonment of the first day's play is expected to continue on the second day, albeit with varying intensities. According to Google Weather, there is a 15 per cent chance of precipitation around 2 pm local time, which may impact the next three hours of play before easing up.

Meanwhile, BBC Weather predicts a slightly higher chance of rain, ranging from 25 per cent to 36 per cent between 2 pm and 6 pm, with conditions improving later in the day. Throughout the day, light rainy showers accompanied by a moderate breeze are forecasted, casting a shadow over the prospects of uninterrupted play.
