India all-rounder Hardik Pandya was forced to leave the field due to an injury during an ICC World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Thursday.

In the ninth over of the match, while delivering a ball to opening batter Litton Das, Hardik Pandya tried to stop the ball with his right leg during his followthrough. In the process, he seemed to encounter some difficulty and was visibly in pain. The physiotherapist was quickly summoned onto the field, and they were seen applying tape to Hardik Pandya's left leg.

Despite his initial intention to continue bowling, a decision was made by the team's captain, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli, who asked him to leave the field. In a crowd-pleasing moment in the match, Kohli took over the responsibility of delivering the remaining three deliveries of the over. Check out the video here:

Hardik Pandya Injury Update: 

Coming to the match, Bangladesh openers Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das have been off to a great start scoring 89/0 after the end of 14 overs. Notably, both the openers were struggling against some tight bowling from Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah in the initial overs.

However, with Hardik injured, both found an opportunity to score their way out of a deadlock.
