India national cricket team vs New Zealand cricket team: Indian bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah became the highest wicket-taker in Tests for the 2024 calendar year during India's first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru on Friday.
Bumrah achieved this milestone by dismissing New Zealand's Tom Blundell, taking his tally to 39 wickets in 15 innings. This performance moved him ahead of teammate Ravichandran Ashwin, who has 38 wickets, and he is now joined at the top by other prominent bowlers like England's Gus Atkinson, Pakistan’s Shoaib Bashir, and Sri Lanka’s Prabath Jayasuriya.
Bumrah’s remarkable year in Test cricket included standout performances, with his best figures of 6/45 coming against England in February. He also delivered another impressive six-wicket haul, taking 6/61 against South Africa in January, further cementing his reputation as one of the leading pacers in world cricket.
