India and Pakistan will lock horns in the third game of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele on Saturday, September 2.
Both the teams are part of group A alongside Nepal who suffered a heavy defeat of 238 runs against Babar Azam's side in the opening game of the tournament.
Currently, Pakistan is leading the Asia Cup Group A points table with 2 points while Group B is led by Sri Lanka. The tournament is co-hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan as per the hybrid model for the first time ever.
India and Pakistan have faced each other 13 times, with India leading the race with 7 wins, while Pakistan have secured 5 victories.

The India vs Pakistan encounter in the T20 World Cup in Australia went down to the wire with the Men in Blue emerging victorious by four wickets.
Both teams played remarkable cricket to provide an all-time classic at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.
While chasing the target of 160, India were in a spot of bother before Virat Kohli began a patient reconstruction job to bail his team out of trouble.
He smashed brilliant 82 runs in just 53 balls and ended up playing a memorable knock before Ravichandran Ashwin cleared the infield off the last ball to win the game for India.

India v Pakistan: Asia Cup 2022, Super Four
Virat Kohli once again played an anchor innings of 60 runs in 44 balls that included four boundaries and a six, taking India to a strong total of 181/7 in their 20 overs.
Chasing the target, Pakistan lost captain Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman in the first half of their innings.
After Mohammad Rizwan's aggressive start, it was the all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz who took the game away from the Men in Blue, smashing a blistering knock of 42 runs after finishing with an economical spell of 1/25 with the ball.
Both sides suffered hiccups in the final overs, but Pakistan prevailed courtesy of an aggressive finish from Asif Ali and Khushdil Shah.
India vs Pakistan: Asia Cup 2022, Group Stage Match
India ended up picking up the victory in the thrilling encounter in Dubai. Rohit Sharma and Co. did well to restrict Pakistan to 147 runs with Hardik Pandya taking three wickets with the ball.
After a disappointing outing of the top order, Hardik took the job with the bat as well after a 36-run stand between Siryakumar Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja.
He smashed Rauf for three boundaries in the penultimate over to bring the equation down to seven off six. Though India lost Jadeja off the first ball of the final over, Hardik finished things off in style with a six to get India's campaign up and running.
India vs Pakistan, T20 World Cup 2021
Pakistan created history by registering their first-ever victory over the arch-rivals India in the World Cup. Shaheen Afridi provided a nightmare to India's top order before Kohli played yet another high-class innings.
Unfortunately, the rest of the batting failed as India stumbled their way to 151/7 in 20 overs.
Pakistan were clinical enough to claim a huge 10-wicket victory with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan putting up a one-sided show with the bat.
They stitched an unbeaten 152-run partnership to register a famous win over India.

India vs Pakistan, ODI World Cup 2019
India got the better of Pakistan in the one-sided contest in Manchester at the biggest of stages. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul put on a clinic with the bat in hand as the former smashed a stunning hundred.
Half-centuries from Rahul and Kohli propelled India to a massive score, setting Pakistan a daunting target of 337.
After an early wicket, Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam made it look so easy with a fighting partnership before Kuldeep Yadav removed both the batters.
Wickets fell in heaps thereafter and Pakistan, chasing 302 in 40 overs in a rain-reduced game, only managed to 212/6 as India extended their unbeaten run in the 50-over World Cup against their arch-rivals to 7-0.
