India National Cricket Team vs South Africa National Cricket Team Match Scorecard: As Team India embarks on the South African challenge, key players like KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, and captain Shubman Gill will look to achieve some personal milestones for the first Test against South Africa, which starts on Friday at Kolkata. The opening match of the India-South Africa Test series will commence on Friday at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The Indian skipper will look to reach the 3,000-run milestone in Test cricket. Currently, in 39 Tests, he has smashed 2,839 runs at an average of 43.01, including 10 centuries and eight fifties, with a highest score of 269. The 26-year-old from Punjab is in the form of his life in the format, currently enjoying an exceptional season in Tests, having scored 979 runs in 15 innings at an average of 69.92, along with a strike rate exceeding 63, which features five centuries and one fifty, with his top score being 269 runs.

KL Rahul, Jadeja To Achieve These Milestones

KL Rahul and Jadeja are on the verge of completing the 4,000-run milestone in Tests.

KL has an average of 36.55 in his Test career, recording 3,985 with 11 centuries and 20 fifties, his best score being 199. Just like Shubman, KL is in exceptional form as an opener this year, marking his best performance in the format, having scored 745 runs in 15 innings at an average of 53.21 across eight Tests, which includes three centuries and three fifties, with a personal best of 137 runs.

On the other hand, Jadeja has scored 3,990 runs at an average of 38.73 in 87 Tests, with six centuries and 27 fifties and best score of 175*. In eight matches this year, he has scored 659 runs at an average of 82.37, with two centuries and five fifties and is in form of his life.

The all-rounder, who also has 338 Test wickets at an average of 25.21, is just 12 wickets away from the milestone of 350 wickets and he could become the second Indian after Kapil Dev to have a double of 4,000 Test runs and 350 wickets in the format.
