Harmanpreet currently holds the second place in the elite list with the most successful captain in the format, having won 75 wins from 129 matches as skipper.
In the third T20I against Sri Lanka on Friday at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, India women’s T20I skipper will have a golden opportunity to draw level with legendary Australia captain Meg Lanning.
Currently, the most successful captain, Lanning, sits at the summit position, having won 76 wins from 100 matches.
Lanning's outstanding tenure as Australia's captain has produced an unparalleled four T20 World Cup crowns, with jubilant campaigns in 2014, 2018, 2020, and 2023.
In contrast, Harmanpreet Kaur's India has come tantalizingly close, finishing as runners-up in 2020 after a heartbreaking loss to Australia in the final.
Harmanpreet's India team is riding high after their maiden World Cup triumph in 2025 on home soil. Now the team has set their sights on adding another ICC trophy to its cabinet at the T20 World Cup in England, pencilled for June and July 2026.
India are currently leading the five-match series by 2-0 against Sri Lanka.
For the ICC T20 World Cup, India have been put in Group A alongside Pakistan, South Africa and Australia. Women in Blue will take on arch-rivals Pakistan on June 14 in Birmingham.
