IND vs SA Final: The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Team India achieved a massive feat by clinching the first-ever Women's World Cup on Sunday, defeating South Africa. As per a report, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to meet the newly-crowned champion side in the national capital, New Delhi. The report in India Today suggested that Harmanpreet and company will travel to Delhi on Wednesday, November 5.
After losing three crucial matches in the group stage, India peaked at the right time in the knockouts to defeat Australia in the semifinal, followed by South Africa in the final on Sunday at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
After India claimed the win, Modi took to his official X (formerly Twitter) to express delight, calling the victory a landmark moment.

“A spectacular win by the Indian team in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Finals. Their performance in the final was marked by great skill and confidence,” he wrote.
“The team showed exceptional teamwork and tenacity throughout the tournament. Congratulations to our players. This historic win will motivate future champions to take up sports,” he added.

Indian Women's Team's Title Drought Ends
India's years-long dream of capturing the ICC Women's World Cup finally came to an end after two heartbreaks in 2005 and 2017 finals, as they defeated South Africa by 52 runs in a clinical performance at the finals, which saw Shafali Sharma (87 and 2/36) and Deepti Sharma (58 and 5/39) delivering all-round performances that would stay imprinted in the minds' of millions and serve as a tale of inspiration for the cricketers of the future.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also congratulated the side, stating that the side has “won hearts across the nation.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also hailed the victory with a post on X.

Your stellar cricketing skills paved the path of inspiration for millions of girls. Congratulations to the entire team,” Shah wrote.
