Upcoming Series of Indian Men's Cricket Team: After a decade of heartbreak in ICC tournaments, the Indian cricket team finally broke their jinx, lifting the T20 World Cup in the USA and the Caribbean. Rohit Sharma led his side to a near-flawless campaign, giving the nation a reason to celebrate after their agonizing loss in the ODI World Cup final at home just a year earlier.

With Rohit Sharma’s retirement marking the end of an era, the expectation was that Hardik Pandya would take over the reins of the T20 side. Having captained in Rohit's absence, Hardik seemed the natural successor. However, newly appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir had different plans.

Gambhir’s decision to elevate Suryakumar Yadav, widely regarded as India’s best T20 batter, to the captaincy ahead of the Sri Lanka series marked a bold new direction for the team. Under Suryakumar’s leadership, India has thrived, ticking all the boxes and seeing the emergence of young talents like Tilak Varma while rejuvenating careers of players such as Sanju Samson and Varun Chakaravarthy.

The transition from the Rohit-Kohli era in T20 cricket has been swift and seamless, a testament to the team’s depth and adaptability. But while the T20 side seems to be flourishing under a fresh approach, the Test team has struggled to move on from its senior stalwarts.

India’s Test team finds itself in a phase of uncertainty. The retirement of premier off-spinner R. Ashwin and the chatter around the futures of other senior players have left a void in the side. This void was evident in India's historic first-ever three-match home series whitewash and the subsequent embarrassing loss to New Zealand in their own backyard.

India had dominated Test cricket earlier in the year, defeating England and their famed ‘Bazball’ approach, as well as blanking Bangladesh. However, the loss to New Zealand was a stark reminder of the challenges facing the team as it transitions.

It will be interesting to see how Team India will fare in the series scheduled for the upcoming year.
