Champions Trophy 2025: India's star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is most likely to be a part of India's 15-member team for the 2025 Champions Trophy, as per India Today. There were speculations around his fitness as he sustained a back spasm in the fifth and the last Test match against Australia at the SCG. But according to the report, he would be part of the Indian team as his availability would be "subject to fitness". The report also revealed that the selectors have urged Bumrah that he should play in at least one competitive match ahead of the mega-event to monitor his fitness and then they will take the final decision. As per the same report, Sanju Samson and the in-form batter Karun Nar won't make it to the squad.
Nair did grab the selector's attention after having a dream run in the ongoing domestic tournament. He had scored 752 runs after playing in eight matches and has been a consistent performer. He has batted at a staggering average of 752 and has smashed five centuries after batting in seven innings.
But the report further said, "selectors feel that it would be unwise to recall Nair, who last represented India in 2017, just before a major tournament".
At the same time, wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson is part of the England T20I squad but won't make it to the ODI series and the Champions Trophy. As per the report, he won't be even considered for these two series and one of the biggest reasons was he didn't play a single match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The report further revealed that the selectors weren't satisfied with his behaviour especially when the board is trying to urge the senior players to play in domestic tournaments. This was one of the biggest rules of the BCCI's 10-point diktat after the Test series loss against Australia.
