India Women Fined For Slow Over-Rate: The Indian women's cricket team have been fined 10 per cent of the match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate against Australia in the third and deciding Women’s ODI in New Delhi.

The series host India had to face a 43-run defeat against Australia despite Smriti Mandhana's stellar 125-run knock to end the three-match ODI series 1-2 to the Aussies at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Saturday.

GS Lakshmi of the ICC International Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction as India was found to be two overs short of the target after time allowances were considered.

As per Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, players are fined 5 per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl. Consequently, India was fined 10 per cent of their match fee.

"In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time," the ICC said in a statement.

"India captain Harmanpreet Kaur pled guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing," it added.

The charge of a slow over-rate against the India women's cricket team was levelled by on-field Umpires Lauren Agenbag and Janani Narayanan, along with Third Umpire Gayathri Venugopalan and Fourth Umpire Vrinda Rathi for maintaining a slow over-rate in their third ODI against Australia.
