"The 32-year-old Magala has played 4 T20Is and 5 ODIs for South Africa. He has played 127 T20s overall, picking up 136 wickets. He was impressive in the recently concluded SA20, picking up 14 wickets in 12 matches helping his side Sunrisers Eastern Cape win the title," the franchise said in a statement.
Jamieson, who was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury, was bought by CSK for Rs 1 crore. Magala will join CSK at his base price of Rs 50 lakh. He went unsold in the IPL Auction in December last year. This will be his first-ever IPL season for the Proteas pacer.
Magala finished the SA20 as the joint fifth-highest in the wicket-takers charts with 14 dismissals.
CSK will kick-start their campaign with the season-opener against defending champions Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 31.
