India's dynamic all-rounder Hardik Pandya is on the verge of returning to the Mumbai Indians franchise for the next IPL season through a one-way all-cash trade deal as per report. Despite Gujarat Titans announcing Pandya as part of their retained players for the upcoming season, a trade deal with Mumbai Indians is reportedly in progress.

Hardik Pandya started his IPL career with Mumbai Indians in 2015 and played for the franchise until 2021, winning four IPL titles during that period. In 2022, with the introduction of Gujarat Titans into the competition, Pandya was picked up by the new franchise and appointed as their captain. Under his leadership, Gujarat Titans secured the title in their debut season and finished as runners-up in IPL 2023.

Speculations about Pandya rejoining Mumbai Indians surfaced, and if the trade deal is completed, he will return to the Mumbai-based franchise for the 2024 IPL season. While Rohit Sharma has been named the captain for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024, England pacer Jofra Archer has been released from the squad due to ongoing recovery from elbow surgery. Pandya's potential return through a trade would make him one of the few IPL captains to be traded, joining the ranks of players like Ravichandran Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane who were traded in 2020.
