KL Rahul seems to be embracing a significant shift in his cricketing career as he heads to South Africa to lead the Indian team in ODIs and Tests. This marks the early stages of a new chapter for Rahul, where he is expected to take on the role of wicketkeeper-batsman, moving away from his traditional position as an opener.

As per a report in Cricbuzz, "While Ishan Kishan is also part of the squad, Rahul is likely to be the preferred choice for wicketkeeping duties in both ODIs and Tests. This change is part of Rahul's effort to establish himself as a middle-order batsman across formats, a role he has excelled in recently, particularly in ODIs."

In the IPL, Rahul, traditionally an opener, is exploring the possibility of adapting to a middle-order role for the Lucknow Super Giants. With the presence of recognized openers in the team, discussions about this potential shift have taken place, showcasing Rahul's commitment to evolving as a middle-order batsman across all formats.
