IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals have suffered a massive blow in the ongoing IPL 2024 as their star all-rounder returned to Australia to treat a partial tear in his right hamstring.
Marsh, who wasn't fit to play in Delhi's previous two matches, is expected to miss more with his side struggling at the bottom half of the points table.
As per a report in ESPNCricinfo, Marsh was recalled by Cricket Australia after their discussion with DC considering the player's possible appointment as Australia's new captain for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Marsh didn't feature in Delhi's against Mumbai Indians on April 7 and Friday's outing against Lucknow Super Giants.
Notably, Marsh left for Australia immediately after the defeat against MI with a final decision on his further participation in the IPL 2024 yet to be taken.
DC's assistant coach Pravin Amre had opened up on Marsh's injury during their match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.
"A few of our players are injured, and the worrying sign is Mitch Marsh. He has gone for a scan and the physios will give us a report in a week's time. Then we will come to know what the exact situation is. Whether he can [play the entire season] or not depends on the reports," Amre said after DC lost to MI on April 7.
On the other hand, the Rishabh Pant-led side returned to winning ways with a victory over Lucknow Super Giants in their previous fixture.
Marsh has been managed carefully by Cricket Australia in the last 12 months considering his history with injuries throughout his career.
He became a regular in the Aussie side across three firsts and ended up winning the Allan Border Medal as Australia's best men's player of the year for 2023.
David Warner undergoes scans
In another concerning update for DC, their opening batter David Warner also has been reported to have suffered an injury scare.
Warner, who was hit on the finger during the LSG clash, has swelling and underwent scans upon landing in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
DC are placed ninth in the points table with just two wins and four points after six matches and will face Gujarat Titans in their next match on April 7.
