LSG vs PBKS IPL 2025: LSG bowler Digvesh Singh has been punished with a huge fine due to his fiery send-off to PBKS batter Priyansh Arya in their IPL 2025 clash on Tuesday. Digvesh was seen mimicking the famous 'notebook celebration' after dismissing Arya, who had scored just eight runs during the third over as PBKS were chasing a target of 172 runs.
Digvesh bowled a shorter delivery and Arya mistimed a pull shot as the ball had touched the top edge of the bat and Shardul Thakur, who was standing at mid-on took an easy catch.
And when Priyansh Aarya was going back to the pavilion, the LSG bowler was seen running after him and was seen writing Arya's name on a fake notebook. However, Aarya didn't give any reaction.
It should be noted here that both these players represented the same team at the DPL 2024.
But this didn't sit well with the IPL governing council. The BCCI has punished him with a 25 percent fine from his match fee and he also received one demerit point.
“Digvesh Singh, Bowler, Lucknow Super Giants has been fined 25 percent of his match fees and has also accumulated One Demerit Point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Punjab Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Tuesday," a statement released by the IPL said.
Digvesh did admit to first-level offense as per article 2.5 and has also accepted the punishment.
The Rishabh Pant-led side lost their second match of the three that they have played till now and are lying in the sixth position in the points table. Although, they made a brilliant comeback from 35/3 and posted a respectable target of 171 during their first home match.
But their efforts went in vain as PBKS chased down the target in just 16.2 overs and won the match by eight wickets. Digvesh took two wickets as he dismissed batters like Priyansh Arya and Prabsimran Singh, who scored a match-winning fifty.
