IPL 2025: Former Indian cricketers MS Dhoni and R Ashwin had a reunion as Chennai Super Kings began their camp for IPL 2025. Both Ashwin and Dhoni played for CSK together in 2010 and 2011 and helped the team win consecutive trophies. Ashwin wasn't part of the 2018 winning team as he played for Punjab Kings then.

The off-spinner finally returned to the franchise as he was bought for a whopping amount of Rs. 9.75 crore during the 2025 IPL mega auction. It means that Ashwin would be playing at the M.A. Chidambaram stadium again, along with Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja as the franchise would be eyeing its sixth title this time. CSK already has begun its training camp with players like Dhoni, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and others joining them.

CSK took to its official social media account and posted a video, where Dhoni and Ashwin were seen walking towards the field for their training session. This made the CSK fans nostalgic as the duo used to play for CSK together years ago.

Ashwin on CSK return

Ashwin opened up on returning to CSK and reckoned that this reminded him of the 2011 auction where the franchise broke their bank for him.

"They say life is a circle. I played for them from 2008 to 2015. I am always indebted to them. Whatever I learned at CSK then has propelled me this far in international cricket. It's been 10 years since I played for CSK. The price, CSK buying me and all that is there. But, I feel nostalgic because CSK fought for me during the bidding war like how they did in 2011. It was a trip down memory lane. It's a very special feeling" he said.

"I have seen a lot of 'Anbuden fans' banners. I have played there for Rajasthan Royals. I played in Chennai, and I noticed that CSK fans won't shout or celebrate when I am bowling and batting" he added.

The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side will lock horns with arch-rivals Mumbai Indians during their tournament opener at the M.A. Chidambaram stadium on March 23.

"I am so glad to return to CSK. I am looking forward to playing in front of the ever-growing fandom. Looking forward to playing with MS Dhoni and playing under Ruturaj Gaikwad," he concluded.
